The UK’s leading platform for Distance Learning Subject Knowledge Enhancement (SKE) courses

VIDLEARN® started delivering online Subject Knowledge Enhancement (SKE) courses a decade ago, initially offering two courses through one partner institution. We are now the most used platform in the UK for online teacher training.

We operate through several regional partners who in turn serve the wider Initial Teacher Training (ITT) community. Our alliance with established teacher training institutions produces the best in technology, delivery, training and support.

Our courses make the most of technology, but you will always have people available to support you. Your time on a VIDLEARN® course will be fully supported, with tutors and course leaders readily available and technical help available 24/7.

What can I expect on a VIDLEARN® SKE course?

VIDLEARN® specialise in SKE. We focus entirely on the production of relevant, current, credible and suitable resources that are moderated within our own partnership of specialists.

We push the envelope in technological terms but strictly leave the training, tutoring and subject specialisms to educational specialists at our dedicated partners.

We have introduced foundation modules for each course that consider the subject at KS2, KS3 and the transition to KS4. As well as this, we offer a selected group of Virtual Lessons for trainees to consider that are introduced by an ITT subject specialist. Whether this is a core (assessed) or optional module, all trainees on all courses benefit.

Additionally, all of our MFL trainees will have access to a free optional subscription to Babbel® Professional to help with vocabulary if needed.

Other subjects, self-funded courses and private candidates

If you are not eligible for DfE funding or would like to pay for the course yourself, please contact us via our contact form. We also offer self-funded SKE courses in subjects not currently funded by the DfE, including Biology, English, Geography, Primary Maths and RE.

You can apply online with our partners now. Courses start on 8th October 2024, with multiple opportunities to enter courses throughout the academic year.

We offer SKE courses in the following subjects:
